Kaspersky’s Son Missing, Possibly Kidnapped
The son of Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of Russian computer security company Kaspersky Lab, has been missing, and may have been kidnapped, according to reports from the BBC and several Russian media outlets.According to the reports, Ivan Kaspersky, a student of mathematics and cybernetics at Moscow State University, has been missing since Tuesday, and the police as well as the Russian secret service have been looking for him since.
Russian media outlet Lifenews claims Ivan Kaspersky has been kidnapped, with the kidnappers seeking a €3 million ($4.3 million) ransom.
A spokesman for Kaspersky Lab refused to comment on the report.
Kaspersky Lab is a private company headquartered in Moscow, Russia. It offers anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam, and anti-intrusion software products. The company employs over 2,300 people; it reported more than $500 million in revenue in 2010.
